When I was younger I worked in a cafe that sold the most AMAZING citrus tarts, but they were full of refined sugar, gluten (which I can’t tolerate), vegetable oils, probably acidity regulators, flavours and who knows what else? 🙈
Citrus tarts are to this day still one of my favourite desserts (anything lemon really 🤤), and the reason why I created a real food version for my new eBook “just DESSERTS”.
These tarts are full of nutrient dense ingredients like organic, grass-fed butter which provides anti-inflammatory and sugar stabilising nutrients like omega-3 fats and vitamin D + butyrate which your gut bugs love. Butter is also rich in the most easily absorbable form of Vitamin A which is necessary for thyroid and adrenal health.
It also contains eggs which are a nutrient rich wholefood. Studies have found that pasture raised organic eggs contain 2/3 more Vitamin A, twice the amount of Omega-3s, 3x the amount of Vitamin E, 7x the amount of beta carotene as well as B Vitamins, higher amounts of fat soluble Vitamins A,D,E,K brain fats like choline, calcium, zinc and more.
Lemons are another key ingredient, helpful for women’s health because it increases liver enzymes so the body is able to metabolise and remove estrogen from the system, helping to balance hormone levels.
